Finnish M28/30 Rifle

This is a very nice Finnish Mosin Nagant M28/30. The bolt is Finn-Matched to the barrel serial and the importer used the same serial number on the receiver which is a nice thoughtful touch for future collectors.  The bore is immaculate and is not counterbored.

The barrel bears the SK.Y marking, indicating that this rifle was originally manufactured for Finland's Civil Guard (Suojeluskuntain Yliesikunta) in 1940.  The stock also bears a fantastic Civil Guard logo and 1940 year making it extremely likely that this rifle remains in its original configuration.  The buttplate and magazine assembly are the only components that are absent expected marks, possibly being replaced due to damage.  Buttstock has the hammer stamp from Tula Armory and the Magazine has the arrow stamp from Sestrorystsk.

The left side of the barrel shank bears a Boxed SA indicating that this rifle was eventually transferred to the Finnish Army from the Civil Guard.

The M28/30 rifle was produced between 1934 to 1940 and was noted for its accuracy.  Famed Finnish Sniper Simo Hayha used a M28/30 (s/n 60974) to great effect during the Winter War.

This rifle remains in outstanding condition and would be a find addition to an advanced Finnish Rifle Collection.

Not really looking to sell this one, but any offer over $1,000 will get my interest.  It is an outstanding rifle and would be extremely hard to match in today's market.  It is a Marathon Import from the 1960's era and they were known for selecting only the very best rifles to import.
